I am at a workshop today on technology! I'm excited to learn more to bring back for my students to try!
Today in writing, we started with writers' notebooks. We will be working a lot in these over the week. Students will be collecting entries this week in hopes of finding something that they want to publish.
For the remainder of the writing class, students worked on a Scavenger Hunt using the Write Source book. This is a handbook that has a ton of information for students to be able to access at anytime.
During reading today, students updated their reading lists with the list of genres that they have been reading. Then, they took a quiz where they matched the definitions of genres with the genre names. The remainder of time was used for Read to Self. There is no reading log due tomorrow.
In spelling, students worked together to brainstorm words that had particular prefixes. Take Home Task was handed out and is due on Thursday.
This afternoon in science (6S), we did a "Probe" which is like a pretest on matter. Students needed to identify from a list what is considered matter and what isn't. This is the beginning of our matter unit. Textbooks were given out. Students do not have to cover these since they won't be going home. Step 4 and 5 are due tomorrow for both classes.
