Phew! Our classroom is buzzing with activity today!
In writing, we went to the library to type of compare/contrast essays. We're almost there! One more class period will be given before the due date of Tuesday. Please ask your child where he/she is at with this. The essays are shaping up nicely!
In reading, I read aloud a memoir today. We took notes on the differences between an autobiography, a biography and a memoir. I also showed two examples of books for each. Next, students used their work time to read, conference or blog. The last day for the blog is tomorrow. I love five day weeks! We get so much done!
In the afternoon, 6F did their reading assessment on genres. I asked them to read two picture books and identify the genre of each. They were able to use their notes on this. Students were asked to give two examples from each book to support why they classified it as the genre they did. This is a quiz grade. 6S will do this tomorrow during the afternoon.
