Wednesday, the middle of the week!

Band and chorus met today while others had study hall.   It was a quiet start to the day.  Many students checked in with me regarding their science project procedures and materials list.

In reading today, we read a story about bacteria.  This was informational print.  Students took notes on this genre and I book talked a few informational books that may be of interest.  Students read silently, conferred with an adult or blogged during class time.  I collected reading log #10 as well.  The next one is due on Tuesday of next week since we are not here on Wednesday.  If students want to complete one over the Thanksgiving break, it will count for extra credit in reading.

During writing, I did a lesson on the concluding paragraph in our compare/contrast essays.  These will be due, in final form, on Tuesday of next week.

In science, we looked at our materials and procedures in small groups.  Students offered suggestions to others to improve them.  Also, I went over the rubric for how the science projects will be scored.  Students are to pass these in when they pass their projects in.  I also talked about planning ahead for this project.  The science fair is December 2 which is the week we come back from the break.  If students are planning to be away for the Thanksgiving holiday, it will be important for them to conduct their experiments over the course of this week.  Time management is a constant goal!

Finally in science, we talked about the test.  I did some reviewing with them so they would be prepared.  This is the last science class they will have before the test.  They can see me at any time to ask a question about the material, but this is the last time there will be a formal class.
