Monday

Another busy day in 6F today!  We got our spelling tests and Take Home Task back today.  I went over both and students added words to their Words to Learn lists from the misspellings on these.  We then did a word preview for unit 3.

After that, we switched to writing and working on those compare/contrast essays.  We had quite a few adults who were able to confer and help with these essays.  I talked a bit about the introduction paragraphs and what those look like.  We looked at examples and will go over how to write on of these tomorrow.  I'm shooting for a due date of next Tuesday for these essays.

In reading today, we took notes on the characteristics of the fantasy genre.  I book talked some fantasy books and handed out the genre requirement sheet.  Students need to read 12 books this year from different genres.  They will keep track of these books on a "pie" that is kept in school.  Students should be adding to this "pie" all throughout the year and it will be collected at the end of the year.  The purpose is for students to be reading a variety of genres.

In science (6F), we worked on more science scenarios, picking out the parts of the experiment.  I handed out the study guide for the test as well and went over some additional things for them to study.
