We've been busy today unpacking bags, listening to procedures, and getting to know our new classmates! We started the morning with an assembly where we clapped in the new fourth grade students. Mr. Bessette gave us a pep talk to start the year off right!
Students then came back to homeroom and unpacked their bags. We labeled all of our supplies. I collected the 3 ring binders with page protectors in them. These will be portfolios that we will add work to all year long. Generally, they do not go home, but if you would like to see them, please let me know at any time.
Snack time was a little confusing, but we made it through. Students who have peanut products for snack will sit at the "peanut table" in my room. That table will be washed and students will need to wash their hands as well. Anyone with tree nuts in their snacks will need to sit outside in the hall and wash their hands when they come back to the class. A note about this is going home today.
During reading class, I read aloud a book called First Day Jitters. Ask your child about the surprise ending! We discussed appropriate behaviors during this part of class. We next filled out our assignment books and talked about how to sign out a book from my library. Students need to bring back my Book Sign Out Policy as soon as possible in order to take books out of my library. Finally, students filled out a Reading Interest survey so that I could get to know them a bit more.
After lunch and recess, we went over rules and procedures of the classroom. I passed out all of the papers to go home and students packed up to go. It was a great day!
